Science of Sport podcast always delivers good stuff...except I never listen to the rugby episodes lol.

Way to go in Toronto!

Thank you for an excellent race report! I have been considering this race for next fall and it’s definitely a top contender. I also appreciate your observations on finding races where you can “run your own race” and the mysteries we wrestle with in our attempts to master the marathon. I’ve been at it for 40 years. I’ve had wins and flops. I still struggle with GI issues (and no, please don’t tell me to just train my gut). But you showed how we can succeed even with those hurdles. Brava!

Such a good point about Strava.

I’m just wrapping up a recap of my most recent race- North Carolina 70.3- and I’m not including any of my times on purpose.

Not because they were bad.

Because they were great.

I want people to be able to look for the insights, takeaways, and practical lessons you can glean from a race report.

Not to look for a quick fix, a comparison, OR to feel less than because you’re “not fast.”

Fast is relative.

Excellent write up and Congratulations on your PR. Based on that I'd say you have some more PR's in the future! I've been running for a long time. I've run hundreds of races, more than 50 Marathons. If you could describe your cramp perhaps I can provide some thoughts that could be beneficial.
