Introducing: RUNHER Magazine

The only print magazine dedicated to covering female runners.

It’s been a minute since I’ve sent out The Rundown, but I have a good reason: For the past few months, I’ve been working on a new project—a bigger project—and one I’m really excited about.

Introducing: RUNHER Magazine, the only quarterly print magazine dedicated to women's running.

It’s undeniable that women’s sports are having a “moment,” but it’s more than that. It’s a movement—and running is no exception. Female runners are smashing records and redefining representation at the highest levels of the sport: This past year, Weini Kelati shattered the American half marathon record—again. Ruth Chepng'etich became the first woman to break 2:10 at the 2024 Chicago Marathon. At the Paris Olympics, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone set yet another world record in the 400m hurdles, Sifan Hassan made history with three medals, and Faith Kipyegon displayed middle-distance dominance.

Female runners dominate the market on an amateur level, too: In fact, 58 percent of respondents identified as female in a 2024 Running USA survey. Running is booming, and women are driving that momentum.

And yeet, in the U.S., there are currently no print magazines dedicated to women's running. It's time to change that.

Female runners deserve a publication that puts their stories front and center—a place to celebrate their achievements, honor the history-makers, and continue to shrink the coverage gap between men's and women's sports.

RUNHER is that magazine.

I’ve worked in publishing for nearly two decades. I’ve covered all aspects of running, from breaking news and athlete profiles to gear reviews and service stories, in publications including Runner’s World, the Wall Street Journal, TIME, Women’s Health, Outside, and more. But media is evolving, and so is publishing. As the industry moves beyond traditional ad-supported models, a new wave of niche publications offers high-quality editions that create a more meaningful experience for readers.

RUNHER is part of the next generation of independent publishing—a premium print publication that prioritizes storytelling, celebrates historic milestones, and gives voice to the unique journey of all women, trans, and non-binary athletes in running.

Our goal is to blend the rich storytelling of legacy sports magazines with the bold, design-forward style of independent publications, delivering deeply reported stories about women’s running that invite readers to immerse themselves in the sport and its community. Above all, RUNHER is about quality over quantity, offering a print experience that is as enduring as the athletes we celebrate.

But RUNHER is not just for women; this magazine welcomes all supporters of women’s running, providing an easier on-ramp for new and established fans to enjoy long-form journalism around the sport.
